AN INTRODUCTION
This library of images has been created to help the reader develop a 3-dimensional understanding of the brachial plexus and
surrounding structures, and use this to enhance your knowledge of the applied anatomy of the major regional anaesthesia
techniques of the upper extremity. I would encourage you to carefully follow the labelled structures through the series of images, and then to study those images related to the technique named below. Individual preference will dictate which way you find easier to scroll through the images - anterior to posterior, medial to lateral, superior to interior or vice versa. It may be useful initially to follow a single structure through each series - axial, coronal and sagittal - for the purposes of orientation.
TECHNIQUES:
Inter scalene: C19-21 ; S6-7 ; A1
Supraclavicular ('8 ball, corner pocket'): C17-34 ; S8-9 ; A12-5
Axillary Tunnel ('comet tail'): C33-24 ; S8-11 ; A4-11
Infraclavicular: C24-36 ; S14 ; A12-18
Retroclavicular: C24-25 ; A1-14 ; S13
Axillary: C10-19 ; A37-40
