General instructions about procedures ...

Procedure planning:
At the time of your consultation with Dr Cornish he will discuss the planned procedure with you and explain expectations, risks and outcomes. You will complete a consent form at that time. We will contact you by phone to arrange a date for your procedure. You will be sent an email containing appropriate hospital admission paperwork or links to online admission, (even if it is a day case procedure); these need to be completed at least a week prior to your admission date. In the letter you will be advised of admission and fasting times. Please be aware that admission and fasting times are subject to change, but you will be advised in plenty of time.
Note: You must inform Dr Cornish if you are taking any anticoagulant medications (even herbal supplements), if you develop an infection of any kind prior to your procedure, or if you have any allergies.

After the procedure:
You must organise for a responsible adult to drive you home after the procedure. A follow up appointment will have been made for you at Specialised Pain Medicine and the date and time can be found on the second page of your procedural letter. If you are unable to attend this appointment please contact the office to arrange an alternative date and time. If you require any dressing changes or removal of sutures, this will be performed in the rooms by our practice nurse. You will be given information regarding your post operative care prior to your procedure.

Please contact the office  if you have any further queries.
