Specialised Pain Medicine is the premier Pain Clinic in Adelaide, providing comprehensive care to people with a wide variety of pain presentations. Appointments are by referral only, and all clients must hold full private health insurance. An initial consultation lasts 60 minutes with our Specialist Pain Medicine Physician Dr Philip Cornish, and includes history taking and may include a physical examination. A treatment pathway is then planned in conjunction with the client, and may incorporate the care of other health professionals.
We believe that the key to successful treatment is accurate diagnosis of the source of your pain. While it is possible with an accurate history and physical examination to gain an understanding of why you have pain, nerve blocks are frequently used as an additional tool for diagnostic purposes. Dr Cornish has internationally recognised expertise in the field of nerve blocks. If diagnostic nerve blocks are considered necessary, they will be discussed at the initial consultation but will be scheduled for a later date.
Following your consultation a comprehensive assessment letter will be forwarded to your referring doctor to provide continuity of care. We will also liaise as required with your other medical and allied health treatment providers to assist you in achieving improved quality of life as required.
Medical procedures
Specialised Pain Medicine offers a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic medical procedures relating to pain medicine, including regional anaesthesia and neuromodulation. PLEASE NOTE DR CORNISH IS NOT A REGISTERED PRESCRIBER OF MEDICAL MARIJUANA.
